Had superior mobility for a big man early on in his career, and he liked to rush the puck up ice. Owns a heavy shot from the point and some offensive ability. Is aggressive and capable of shutting down opposing forwards when on his game. Used to be able to log big minutes but injuries have been a major issue for him, so his ability is often overshadowed by his lack of appearances in the NHL. Can get burned at times when going for big hits and lacks discipline in the defensive zone sometimes.
